Common questions
Does it work on YouTube?
No. Chrome Web Store policy bans YouTube downloaders, so Vidora won't ever target YouTube. We focus on platforms where downloading your own content is legitimate: Vimeo, Bunny.net, HLS streams, MP4 directs.
Does it work on Instagram, TikTok, X or Facebook Ads Library?
Best-effort, and the detail matters: TikTok has a dedicated extractor, Instagram, X and Facebook Ads Library do not. Vidora only saves what your browser has already loaded from the CDN, so a reel or an ad creative playing in front of you usually works, while a login-walled feed video or a signed URL tied to another IP can fail. Treat it as a bonus, not a guarantee. For personal use and research only. Downloading does not grant ownership or reshare rights. Respect each platform's terms of service and do not redistribute commercially without permission.
Does it bypass DRM?
Never. Vidora respects all DRM (Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady) and platform protections. It only downloads videos that are technically downloadable from your browser already, one click instead of fifteen.
Can I download subtitles too?
Yes for WebVTT (.vtt), the format used by virtually every modern player. When a video has <track> subtitle elements in the page, Vidora shows a "Subs" button next to Download. Multi-track videos get a language dropdown so you can pick English, French, etc. A setting in Settings saves them as .srt instead, for players and editors that do not read .vtt; other formats are kept as the site serves them. Great for transcription, translation or offline learning.
What about Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or paid streaming?
Not downloadable. These services encrypt video with DRM and Vidora never bypasses it (see above). For offline Netflix, use their official mobile app download feature.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Video detection and downloads run entirely locally in your browser. We collect anonymous usage counts (events like download_completed, platform_vimeo) once every 24h, plus anonymous error reports when a download fails, so we can fix what is broken faster. No URLs, no titles, no persistent user ID. You can switch both off any time in Options > Settings > Anonymous statistics. A page URL is only sent if you click Send on a problem report yourself. What is included during the launch?
During the launch period, everything is free and unlimited: no credit card, no quota, no feature limits, the full engine. Paid plans will only be announced once download reliability meets the bar we have set publicly, with at least 30 days notice in the update notes.
Can I get a refund?
No payment is processed during the launch period, so there is nothing to refund: everything is already free. A full refund policy will be published together with paid plans. Details on the refund policy page.
Does it work on Mac, Windows, Linux?
Yes - anywhere Chrome (or Edge, Brave, any Chromium browser) runs. No native app required.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Vidora is fully anonymous. No password, no email, no signup form. Install the extension and start downloading right away.
